I|so|p|re|no|id [↑ Isopren u. ↑ -oid], das; -s, -e; Syn.: isoprenoide Verb.: Sammelbez. für natürliche oder synthetische Verb., deren Struktur den Aufbau aus C5H8- Einheiten (↑ Prenyl-) des Isoprens erkennen lässt, z. B. Terpene u. Terpenoide, Carotinoide, Steroide, Iridoide, Kautschuk, Balata, Guttapercha. Darüber hinaus enthalten viele Naturstoffe isoprenoide Seitenketten, z. B. manche Hormone, Vitamine, Chlorophyll u. v. a. Pflanzeninhaltsstoffe. Die Biogenese der I. folgt weitgehend der ↑ Isoprenregel.
